Samsung making 256GB flash memory chips for smartphones


Smartphone specs have been catching up to personal computers for some time.


Now, Samsung has announced a 256GB embedded memory chip which is set to bring smartphones even closer to replacing your laptop.


The company says it has started mass production of the new chips which are based on the Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 2.0 standard.


According to Samsung, the new flash storage is twice as fast as the previous generation of UFS memory.
