Looks like a project car that was forgotten and discarded
If you spend much time in high-inventory-turnover California wrecking yards, you’ll see the occasional 1950s Detroit car. Mostly they won’t have serious rust, but for one reason or another they couldn’t get rescued by anyone during the multi-layered auction process that usually precedes that final tow-truck ride to The Crusher’s waiting room. Here’s a reasonably solid 1955 Buick Special that I spotted in San Jose a couple of weeks ago.
